Why is photobiomodulation therapy better than other forms of treatment?
Photobiomodulation therapy also known as PBM therapy, does not require the use of drugs or surgery. Pain relief is often immediate and there are minimal side effects, no risks, and it’s quick and convenient. Studies have shown Pbm therapy to be equal to or more effective than other forms of physical therapy.
Is Body Tilt Photobiomodulation Therapy A Cure All?
No, low-level laser therapy is not a panacea or cure all. However, in many situations it works very well and can be extremely beneficial for patients to return to optimal health quickly. Laser therapy has been validated in many clinical trials at well-respected research institutions worldwide.
Does it hurt and what does photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy feel like?
There is little or no sensation during treatment let alone any pain associated with PBM therapy. Occasionally, patients feel a mild, soothing warmth and often patients report feeling relaxed with some even falling asleep. However, sometimes existing pain can increase or temporarily worsen 12-24 hours after a treatment session. This is simply because the PBM light is activating the healing process. This type of pain is particularly likely to arise when the health problems are chronic and it usually subsides after a few days but can, in rare cases, last longer.
How long does photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy treatment take?
The typical course of treatment is 10-15 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. More chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2-3 times a week. Treatment plans are determined on an individual basis.
How many treatments does it take?
This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions, 2-6 treatments may be sufficient. More chronic conditions may require 6-10 sessions. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain. The Body Tilt mantra is ‘better in four or schedule no more!
How long before results are felt?
You may feel improvement in your condition (usually pain reduction) after the very first treatment. Not everyone responds to laser therapy and results cannot be guaranteed. Each treatment is cumulative and results are usually felt after 2-4 sessions. Although treatments only take 10-15 minutes, the therapeutic effects continues to sooth and heal long after patients have had treatment.
Are the results long lasting?
Body Tilt PBM therapy is about healing as opposed to masking or covering up a condition. When you feel better from laser therapy it’s because you are better.
Can PBM therapy be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment?
Yes. PBM therapy is even more effective when combined with other forms of therapy including physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, soft tissue mobilisation, electrotherapy, and following surgery. We combine PBM therapy with specialised orthopaedic and medical massage techniques to relieve your pain fast.
How do I know if laser therapy is right for me?
In your initial one-hour consultation, Annie will evaluate your condition and perform a complete PBM therapy examination to determine if PBM therapy is for you with an evaluation and Q&A session.
Can PBM therapy be used over medical implants or over metal?
Yes. PBM therapy is a light treatment and can be used safely with no side effects. It’s extremely effective for post-operative wound healing and many hip and knee replacement patients use PBM therapy.
