11 year old yellow lab. Came to us from the Emergency clinic, from dermatology. Been through a number of therapies including a number of antibiotics. Diagnosed in May 2010 with methicillin restistant Staphylococcus pseudointermedius. Prognosis was poor for this patient. She came to us in fear of losing her dog and the fear of this pet being contagious to the population in general. Two weeks with the use of the ultraviolet laser twice a week for 10 minutes. See the healing we achieved within two weeks. The skin was also thickened and has become nearly normal thickness as our treatments continue.

Laser as a Healing Stimulus
Laser acupuncture is a therapeutic method in which a laser light beam is used to stimulate acupoints.
REMEMBER: LASER CLASS 3B (LOW LEVEL LASER) ARE NOT THE SAME AS LASERS USED FOR LASER SURGERY!
The acupoints effective for specific disorders of animals have been determined by hundreds of years of experience in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (TCVM). Laser acupuncture is relatively new compared to the other forms of acupoint stimulation, but has advantages over dry needle acupuncture because it is usually painless and there is no need to touch the skin. Laser photon absorption during LLLT is thought to stimulate nerve endings at acupoints andinduce therapeutic effects via autonomic nervous system reflexes and higher brain centers similar to other forms of acupoint stimulation. Laser acupuncture is now known to affect all major physiologic systems. It works primarily via the central nervous system, affecting the musculoskeletal, hormonal, and cardiovascular systems. Laser acupuncture does more than just relieve pain. Laser beam also increases circulation, causes a release of many neurotransmitters and neurohormones (some of which are endorphins, the “natural pain-killing” hormones), relieves muscle spasms, stimulates nerves, and stimulates the body’s defense system, among many other beneficial effects. The particular method in which it works depends on the conditions being treated and the points used.
IS IT A CURE-ALL?
No, low level laser therapy (or cold laser therapy) is not a panacea, but in certain disease conditions it work’s very well and can be very beneficial to optimal health and performance of animal.
It is a validated in many clinical trials at world-renown research institutions.
Low level laser treatment (cold/soft laser therapy) does more than just relieve pain!
